Alert Correlation

« Back to Glossary Index

Alert correlation is a method of grouping or “clustering” highly related system behavior or performance anomaly alerts into one high-level incident. Alert correlation tools automate this process by ingesting alerts from multiple “heterogeneous” performance monitoring devices. The aim is to streamline the alert management and incident analysis process by synthesizing data used in Root Cause Analysis (RCA). See also Alert Consolidation, Root Cause Analysis.
