Context

« Back to Glossary Index

Context refers to information related to an IT event, incident or problem that helps IT professionals make sense of the data more rapidly. Contextual information includes information ̶ such as metric correlation (i.e. What other performance metrics behaved abnormally at the time of the incident?) and co-occurrence (i.e. What else happened on other systems at the time of the incident?). Contextual information also includes information that is relevant for the particular application domain being managed – for example, what jobs were being executed at the time of the incident? The ability of AIOps software to rapidly identify salient information and package it in the form of contextualized insights for easy consumption is critical to rapidly determining the root cause of an incident.
