Tribal Knowledge

« Back to Glossary Index

In the context of AIOps, Tribal Knowledge refers to the siloed expertise of those responsible for maintaining the proper performance of various layers of the computing stack and landscape such as database, applications, networks, servers, etc. Reliance on tribal knowledge is frequently cited as an inhibitor in trouble shooting incidents since resolution often requires developing a “system-level” view of a problem and collaboration among subject matter experts rather than finger pointing.
